Ryan VanDuzer (PLC Class of 1998) honored in D.C.

img_RyanVanDuzer.jpgLast summer, Ryan rode a 3-speed New Belgium Cruiser from Oceanside, CA to Washington, D.C. to bring visibility to the bicycle movement. Ryan did not ride on some lavish, expensive, high-tech bike. He rode an old school beach style cruiser across this beautiful country. Sponsored by Ft. Collin's New Belgium Brewery/Team WonderBike and the League of American Bicyclists, Ryan met his goal of demonstrating that if he can ride a 3 speed 3300 miles, we can all ride a bike to the grocery store. Beginning June 20, he went through the deserts in Arizona and New Mexico, over the Rockies, along the rivers, through the plain states, into the Appalachians, and ended in Washington, DC on August 5th. The League of American Bicyclists and National Geographic honored Ryan's accomplishment and advocacy at a ceremony in Washington, D.C.
Why did he do this?? —to get people on bikes and out of carbon-polluting vehicles. Ryan also raised money to support the children's program for local bike coop, Community Cycles; he met with city planners from America's Bicycle Friendly Cities; and he spread the gospel of "Bike More-Drive Less". He wants to encourage all of us to get on our bikes. Learn more at http://www.ryanvanduzer.com.
