Results of a recent survey of PLC alumni

  • 91% reported that PLC helped them perform at higher levels in their careers compared to other college graduates
  • 77% of alumni said PLC influenced their decision to attend CU-Boulder
  • 82% of alumni responded that PLC created a great understanding of their personal values and developed their leadership style/philosophy
  • 120 hours per year is the average amount of time PLC Alumni spend on volunteer activities
  • 60% of PLC Alumni continue their education post college graduation
  • 16 top scholarships have been awarded to PLC alumni since 2000 -- 2 Truman, 1 Gates, 1 Udall, 1 Jack Kent Cooke, 1 Marshall, 4 Benjamin Brown, 2 Goldwater, and 1 NSEP scholarship. Additionally, PLC has produced 2 Rhodes finalists, 3 Truman Finalists and 1 Marshall Finalist
  • 99% of PLC Alumni would recommend PLC to others 


PLC Scholars

PLC scholars pursue majors in all schools and colleges at the University, although the majority matriculate in Arts & Sciences, Business or Engineering. Whatever their chosen field, PLC scholars perform at high levels academically. They maintain a higher average cumulative G.P.A. than other academic groups on the CU campus.

  • 1st and 2nd Year PLC scholars contribute over 10,000 hours of community service work to the community each year.
  • PLC scholars pursue research opportunities across the globe. Since 2001, over 65 UROP grants have been awarded to PLC scholars, which is 4 times the rate of traditional CU undergraduates.
  • PLC scholars graduate with honors at about 4 times the rate of traditional CU undergraduates.

PLC strives to recruit and select an ethnically diverse class. Below are PLC's results for 2009 compared to CU, Colorado, and the nation.

PLC Recruitment and Selection

One goal of the PLC founders was to create a program that would attract top students to CU Boulder. PLC invests a great deal of time and money in recruiting the best and brightest for the PLC program.

  • In a recent survey, 77% of PLC alumni said PLC influenced their decision to attend CU-Boulder.

The demand for PLC is increasing. Over the past 5 years, the number of students applying to PLC has increased by 21%.

The quality of the PLC program has everything to do with the quality of the students who enter the program. Here are the results of the 2009 recruiting effort:
