Amber Callender - Executive Director for Denver’s Road Home [First Year Lecturer]March
Amber Callender currently serves as the Executive Director for Denver’s Road Home, directing Denver’s 10-year plan to end homelessness. Prior to this post, she served as Deputy Director of Legislative Services and as the Director of Neighborhood Relations for Mayor John Hickenlooper. A committed public servant, she has also worked for former City Councilwoman Kathleen MacKenzie and for Councilman Doug Linkhart. Combined, she has spent 10 years engaging Denver’s elected officials, businesses, community organizations and residents through City Hall. A proud Denver Public Schools graduate, Amber received her BA in Environmental Studies from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She also participated in a Master’s Program in International Service at Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara while living with her family and volunteering for a women’s shelter in Guadalajara, Mexico. Amber is a graduate of Leadership Denver, and among her volunteer commitments, serves on the Board of Directors for the Civic Canopy. Mayor Hickenlooper has appointed her to the Denver Women’s Commission and most recently to the Drug Strategy Commission, which she Co-Chairs.
