President Obama Visits CU & the HillPresident Obama visited Boulder Tuesday evening with stops on the Hill and the Coors Event Center. The President addressed an enthusiastic crowd on campus about the importance of keeping interest rates low for student loans. Before reaching the Coors Center, his motorcade stopped first on the Hill for a quick bite to eat. The President ordered a pizza at the Sink and then shook hands with people lining the streets, including PLC's Ex. Director, Steve Grace, who happened to be in the crowd. The stop became newsworthy when CU student Kolbi Zerbest's yogurt spilled on the President resulting in a photo opportunity for the assembled media. The President's visit to CU was part of a three-state, two day tour of college campuses. [From Daily Camera] President Barack Obama took the stage at the University of Colorado's Coors Events Center to push his case for keeping student loan interest rates in place. "This isn't something I just read in a briefing paper," Obama told the crowd. "When we got married, we got poorer together. "We paid more in student loans than we paid for the first condo we bought together." Continuing his story, Obama said he and the First Lady only finished paying off their loans eight years ago.
