PLC Announces 2011 Opportunities for Students to Explore Colorado

The Presidents Leadership Class has released its Fall Experiential Weekends calendar. PLC Experiential Weekends immerse students in different aspects of Colorado's economy and communities. This semester's weekends include: Sustainable Agriculture, Manufacturing, Tourism and Poverty.

Sustainable agriculture weekend will take place September 24th and 25th. The weekend will focus on farming and urban gardening throughout Colorado. Students will visit a 100% natural, family-owned dairy farm and see yogurt production from start to finish. They will also visit urban community gardens. In between tours, students will meet with policy and economic experts on agriculture throughout Colorado.

Manufacturing Weekend will take place October 7th and 8th and will highlight different Colorado industries ranging from Celestial Seasonings to New Belgium Brewery. Tourism Weekend, the weekend of October 14th, will take students around the booming Colorado tourism Industry. Finally, Poverty Day will take place November 4th. This day, sponsored by the Denver Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Denver, reveals the poverty issues facing an large number of Denver area residents.
All four weekends have proven to popular with the students in the past and this year appears to be no exception.  Hours after the signup process began only a few spots remained.
