Happiest Place in the U.S.

Where are the happiest people in the country? Look no further than Boulder.

According to a recent survey, the city of Boulder boasts the happiest residents of any city in the United States.

The ranking by the Gallup Healthways Well Being Index showed that in surveys taken throughout the year 2010, Boulder residents had the highest Well-Being Index composite scores in the nation.

Scores were given based on residents' answers to questions in six categories: life evaluation, emotional health, physical health, healthy behavior, work environment and basic access.

Boulder was joined in the Top 5 cities by Fort-Collins-Loveland, which placed third. Lincoln, Neb.; Provo-Orem, Utah; and Honolulu, Hawaii rounded out the Top 5.

Colorado as a state was ranked fifth in the nation. Hawaii was ranked first.
