Ben Purser

Teaching Fellow; 2014-15

Ben Purser joined the PLC team in 2014 as a Teaching Fellow.  As a doctoral candidate in Political Science, Ben comes to PLC after spending years as Teaching Assistant at the University of Colorado Boulder — and having taught classes while an Active Duty officer in the US Navy.

Before beginning graduate school at the University of Colorado Boulder, Ben served as an intelligence officer in the Navy for approximately nine years.  His military service included two tours out of Pearl Harbor, Hawai’i and two out of the National Capital Region.  In addition to his normal duties, Ben spent two of his years in the Navy earning a Masters in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College. 

Beyond his his leadership roles in the military, Ben has guided a series of organizations.  Prior to joining the Navy, he managed a consulting office in Shanghai, China.  Since arriving in Boulder, he has been elected President of the Student Veterans Association (at CU Boulder) and become a member of Americorps' Veteran Leadership Corps.
